If you are thinking of adding hair extensions to your hair but you’re not familiar with this process yet, I thought my experience with blonde hair extensions would be useful.
The reason why I chose to put hair extensions was that I desperately needed a change in my look. I’ve always had thin hair and I wore it no longer than my shoulders because I never had the patience to let it grow. My best friend suggested I had hair extensions. And since I was determined to dramatically change my appearance, I thought it would be a great idea to change my hair colour too. Obviously blonde hair extensions were the way to go.
The first step I needed to take was choosing a colour, more exactly a specific shade of blonde. I went to the saloon to dye my hair because I wanted to get the best result. Then I went to search the hair extensions that fitted best. I was lucky because hair extensions have a wide range of shades for each colour from which I could choose. There were more options: natural hair, synthetic hair or blends of natural and synthetic hair. I went for the natural hair extensions. Even if they are by far more expensive than the other two types, if you can afford them they are the best choice. First of all you can style your hair if you use professional products and take really good care. You can use a flat iron, a curling iron or the hair dryer if you keep low the level of heat. With synthetic or blends of synthetic and natural hair you can’t do all that because the hair extensions would be damaged. I bought hair extensions with a sleek texture because I have thin straight hair and that’s how I usually wear it. It’s important that the texture of your hair extensions is accordingly to the way you usually wear your hair because you shouldn’t style it that often. It’s better if you use the help of a professional, like I did.
After I got my blonde hair extensions I went to the saloon to apply them. They must be applied by a professional as nobody can do this at home by himself. You should clear your schedule for that day because applying the hair extensions takes a while, especially if they are clip-on like mine were. After you are finished with applying them ask your hair-stylist to give you tips on how to maintain them for a longer life. Ask him or her about shampooing, combing and of course styling you hair. If you take into consideration his piece of advice you should have long-lasting beautiful hair extensions.
If you are thinking of getting hair extensions but you were not sure about the whole process, I really hope that my personal experience was helpful.
